Give Thanks.

Fall is upon us.
Cooler weather, pumpkin everything and
before we know it….Thanksgiving.
I've been working on a couple designs for this favorite season of mine.

I took a stab at some hand lettering this time around.
It's definitely something that I need to keep practicing but
I think they turned out pretty decent.

This has been one of the hardest years of my life.
It's easy to focus on all of the hurts, pains and unmet expectations.
But everyday I have to make the decision to count my blessings and be so thankful for everything that I DO have.

"I’m confident that there is a divine appointment in every disappointment. God has a way of turning feelings of disappointment into feelings of gratitude." - Mark Batterson

What are you thankful for this year?

These two designs along with a couple others will be launching this weekend
at I Made It Scary in Bakery "Scare."

Come check it out and support local artists!

Fresh.

I have two fresh & new designs that just launched on minted.com in the past couple of weeks! Go check them out!

The moving announcement was actually the one I designed for my husband and I when we moved into our first home last summer!

Sprinkle

I was asked to put something together quickly for a co-worker's *sprinkle* that we are going to throw in April. Just a simple e-vite to send out to the office. I think it's pretty cute.

Pete's Shower Invite

Pete is having a little boy, due in early May.
They are doing his nursery in a woodland creatures theme + owls, hence the little owl at the top of the invite.

Hope he is surprised!

Skins.

I think that it is so cool that you can create an illustration with
marker on paper and then see that thing manifested into a different form.
Whether its a card, a purse or a cell phone skinYes...cell phone skins!
Penelope Poppy has now ventured into the mobile world to make your phone cute and adorable.

My friend Mike over at Cell Pig approached me a while back and said that they were interested in launching some "designer" skins and that they were holding a contest for entries. I entered three illustrations for the contest. They started with those three and surprisingly they were doing really well so he asked me for a couple more!

 {this is what you get, the skins before being peeled off}

{back}
They have been up on Cell Pig's site for a couple of months now and it seems
like they are doing really well! Mike sent me the Cupcake skin,
I haven't used it yet though...I kind of want to save it.

The pictures above are actually screen shots from an online review.
Tim from Tim's Tech Blog did a Cell Pig review and the skin that he
used just so happened to be "Hello Cupcake!"

I made it!

At the beginning of this month I had the opportunity for the first time {ever!}
to sell my cards at a local crafters market called I made it! Market.

 {My table}
 Fortunately I have a friend over at Steel City Cotton Works, who was willing to {very nicely} kick me in the butt and get me out there. This is something that I've wanted to do for the past 3-ish  years but for {who knows what} reasons, I just haven't…fear, procrastination, not knowing how or where….etc.

 {Another table shot}
I had such a blast. It was a Valentine's Day show so I created a couple of new cards just for this event. It's one thing to hear great things from your family and friends {they are supposed to support you} but to see the general public "oooo-ing and awww-ing" over some of your work is an indescribable feeling.

 {Groupies}
I hope that I have more opportunities like this in the future!
Thanks to everyone who came down to support me and thanks to all of the lovely people who purchased cards and prints! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Peacock

I designed this Peacock Wedding Suite for a friend who got
married back on 11-11-11. {Why does that sound so long ago?}

{The entire "suite"}
The wedding colors, as you might guess, were navy blue, lime green
and a little bit of purple {Colors of a, you guessed it, Peacock!}

I had a lot of fun working with this theme.
Carrie and Joey wanted something traditional yet fun too!
They did a great job carrying the Peacock theme throughout.
Even the Bridal Shower was totally "Peacocked" out!

{Fonts: Burgues Script + Filosofia}

{Close up of the feather}
The wedding was beautiful.
I know that Carrie and Joey are enjoying being newlyweds.
What a great couple!

I am a lucky girl.

I know that Valentine's Day is still a ways off but I just can't help but
 think what I lucky girl I am. God has given me an amazing husband
and I am so blessed.

{This is Nate. Isn't he the cutest?}
Yes, he will be highly embarrassed by this post because he is a humble man.
{He'll get over it.}

Nate, I love you.
